Senior Research Assistant Duke-Margolis Center for Health Policy

Senior Research Assistant The Robert J. Margolis, MD, Center for Health Policy at Duke University has an opening for a Senior Research Assistant. The work site for this position will be the Duke-Margolis offices in Durham, NC.

This specific Senior Research Assistant position will support Center projects with research, writing, and analysis with a focus on systematic reviews of literature, decision modeling, cost-effectiveness analysis, and value assessment work. Additional tasks will support the educational initiatives, faculty engagement, outreach efforts, and other operational activities of the Center as assigned.

Primary responsibilities include conducting background research, performing literature reviews, drafting summary documents, extensive writing for a range of deliverable types, and supporting Center faculty and student initiatives. This will include support for project and other Center activities through coordination, logistics management, and some administrative tasks.

Education/Experience Requirements: Educational attainment and work experience requirements to be met by one of the following: • Bachelor’s degree and at least 3 years of relevant work experience. OR • Master’s degree in a relevant field (library science, health policy, public policy, public administration, public health, health economics, etc.). Master’s degree with at least one year of related work experience is preferred.

Knowledge/Skills Requirements: • Strong research and writing experience is required. • Familiarity with current methods in evidence synthesis. • Evidence synthesis research skills, including the ability to synthesize content from a broad range of sources, is required. Some data analysis capabilities would be preferred. • Literature review and analytical skills; capacity to learn job specific software programs (e.g. DistillerSR) is required. • Strong written communication skills and the ability to transform complicated information into easy to understand materials is required. • Ability to interact with high level individuals and organizations is required. • Training or experience in the fields of evidence synthesis, health policy, public policy, public health, data science, or patient safety is preferred. • Administrative, project coordination, and management experience is preferred.
