The successful candidate will be expected to share a deep commitment to effective instruction at the undergraduate and graduate levels and to the mentoring of students in their professional development.  Successful candidates will be expected to broaden participation among members of under-represented groups; demonstrate through their activities the richness of diversity in the learning experience; integrate multicultural experiences into instructional methods and research tools; contribute to the development of pedagogical techniques designed to meet the needs of diverse learning styles and intellectual interests. The teaching load is seven courses per academic year, including two courses on World Literature (pre-modern and modern), two courses on film (film history and film genres), French literature and culture courses taught in French, and courses on French culture and society in inter- and cross-cultural perspectives to be taught in English.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS

Ph.D. in Comparative Literature, Film Studies, French or a related field; experience teaching in a college or university; native or near native fluency in French; interest in teaching large lecture courses; excellent speaking and writing skills in English. Equivalent foreign degrees are acceptable.  Candidates must have completed all the requirements for their doctoral degree by August 22, 2019.

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS

Experience teaching World Literature courses in a college or university; experience teaching film courses in a college or university; experience in teaching large lecture courses on French culture in English; interest in program building.

APPOINTMENT TERMS

This is a full-time, nine-month, non-tenure track position.  Annually renewable, pending satisfactory performance.  This position is at the main campus in Storrs but incumbents may work at the campuses located at Avery Point, Hartford, Stamford, Torrington, Waterbury, and/or any other University location.
