THE OHIO STATE UNIVERSITY Assistant Professor of Practice Department of Mechanical and Aerospace Engineering

DESCRIPTION

The Ohio State University at Marion invites applications from outstanding individuals for a non-tenure-track, full-time clinical-track Assistant Professor of Practice in the College of Engineering, Department of Mechanical and Aerospace Engineering. Responsibilities include teaching undergraduate courses in mechanical and aerospace engineering; teaching courses in the first year engineering experience and/or computer science engineering; and providing service to the university. The successful candidate is expected to teach three to four courses per semester. Faculty members on the Marion campus hold appointments in their academic departments at The Ohio State University, and are promoted through the process outlined in their academic departments for professors of practice. Teaching responsibilities for this position will be exclusively at Ohio State Marion, which is one of the six campuses of The Ohio State University. The undergraduate curriculum in mechanical engineering has a uniquely strong emphasis on experiential learning, including an early introduction to mechanical manufacturing, year-long capstone design experiences on product and system design, prototyping and evaluation, and technical electives on computer-aided design and manufacturing, and smart product design. It is expected that this position will play a central role in maintaining and renewing these curricular strengths over time. Outcomes of successful research in related areas include, but are not limited to, mentoring of undergraduate students, scholarly journal publications, industrial case studies, new product development, user-centric designs, and creation of intellectual property.

QUALIFICATIONS

Candidates must have, by the start date, an earned doctoral degree in mechanical or aerospace engineering. Additionally, candidates must have a strong commitment to and evidence of excellence and accomplishment in teaching.
