Position Title: Postdoc-Yellen
Position Type:Non tenure-track faculty
Position Location:Durham, North Carolina 27701, United States [map]
Subject Area: Engineering / Mechanical Engineering
Appl Deadline:none (posted 2019/04/08)
Position Description:

A postdoctoral position in cellular and molecular biology is immediately available in the Yellen lab. The postdoctoral candidate will work on conducting single cell based drug resistance assays using high-throughput imaging and data analysis tools being developed in Yellen’s lab. This candidate will work with scientists, microfluidic device engineers, and computer vision specialists to screen for drug resistance in up to 100,000 single cell clones, which are imaged repeatedly over 5 days. The goal of the research is to use a rapid assay to profile the heterogeneous drug responses of single cells in the presence of single or combination therapies. A successful candidate should be able to cover most of the following responsibilities: culture cells, prepare drug mixtures, help maintain laboratory equipment, including cell culture incubators, biological safety cabinets, freezers, and conduct genomic assays on the surviving clones.

Candidates should have a strong background/interest in high throughput biology, robotic automation, microfluidics, cell biology, genomic analysis, and data sciences. A PhD in cellular and molecular biology or a related field is strongly desired.
