Position Description:    

Macalester College invites applications for a tenure-track assistant professor in Statistics to begin Fall 2020. Candidates must have or be completing a Ph.D. in Biostatistics or Statistics (or a closely related field). We have an interest in candidates whose work spans disciplinary boundaries. Some specific areas of potential interest include machine learning, computational statistics, causal inference, and advanced statistical modeling (eg: spatial statistics, generalized linear mixed effects models, time series analysis, structural equation models). Strong candidates will have a commitment to teaching and research in an undergraduate liberal arts environment.

Macalester offers an attractive environment for statistical scientists with majors in Applied Mathematics and Statistics, Mathematics, and Computer Science and minors in Statistics, Data Science, Mathematics, and Computer Science. Our department has developed an innovative curriculum, built strong relationships with allied disciplines, and has a vibrant record of conducting research with undergraduates. We work with diverse student populations and teach courses that include elements of civic engagement. Strong candidates will have a record of experience or demonstrated interest in these efforts.
