The Pimm lab in the Nicholas School of the Environment is hiring an Associate in Research for an interdisciplinary position in conservation and land management. The position spans several projects, including South Asian mangrove fragmentation, tropical forest restoration, and animal dispersal. The selected applicant will be expected to utilize metapopulation theory to investigate the biodiversity impacts of changing landscapes. Applicants are expected to publish first author papers and must display a history of doing so.

The term of this appointment is contingent on funding availability.

Principal Responsibilities: The associate is expected to actively collaborate with three research groups, create metapopulation models, map conservation priority areas, and publish research papers. The associate is expected to develop lines of scientific inquiry that allow for the practical conservation of South Asian mangroves and prioritize restoration efforts of tropical forests.

In addition to research obligations, associate is expected to assist in organizing research-based undergraduate education. This involves scheduling lectures, overseeing student research progress, and directing student efforts towards interesting research objectives.

Preferred Qualifications: • A Ph.D. in Ecology, Conservation, or related field. • Multiple first-author publications in the field of conservation • Experience coding in R and Python • Expert knowledge in the fields of metapopulation theory, landscape structure and connectivity, corridor restoration, and telemetry analysis • Basic understanding of economics, carbon stocks, and land stewardship is a plus • Teaching experience and organizing class logistics • A history of science communication and data visualization

Min Degree Requirement: Ph.D. in Ecology, Conservation, or related field.
