Postdoctoral Research Position (Shared Medical Decision Making): Antaki Lab

The Heart-Assist Technology group (PI: Antaki) is seeking an outstanding researcher to participate in development of a decision support tools for advanced heart failure and pulmonary hypertension. (See www.mycora.org; www.heart-hope.org; www.myphora.org).

The postdoctoral scientist will be supported by two National Institutes of Health R01 grants awarded to Prof. Antaki (Meinig School of Biomedical Engineering) aimed at improving evidenced-based decision making, and improving patient involvement in their treatment pathway.

Responsibilities include: * Observational studies of communication between patients, physicians, and caregivers. * Design of decision tools for data visualization and navigation of treatment options in terms of patient values. * Performing statistical analysis of clinical outcomes. * Writing scholarly publications; and presenting results at conferences. * (possibly) participation in preparation of grant proposals for future work.

The successful candidate must have a PhD or equivalent degree in Biomedical Engineering, Bioengineering, Computer Science, Cognitive Psychology, or Statistics. Preference will be given to candidates with skills and experience in machine learning, data mining, artificial intelligence, data visualization, Bayesian statistics, website design, and/or psychology of decision-making.
