As an Academic Professional, teaching duties will comprise less than 51% of total time. Initial responsibilities include: (1) teaching one course per semester (fall, spring, summer) that may include a lower division class in the School of Psychology (e.g., Introduction to Psychology or Research Methods in Psychology); (2) curriculum development; (3) undergraduate advisement of psychology majors; (4) oversight and management of the Psychology subject pool, and (5) other related duties as assigned.

Academic Professionals at Georgia Tech are non-tenure track, academic faculty positions. The College of Science’s’ commitment to undergraduate education is evidenced by our creation of a dedicated and dynamic team of non-tenured instructional faculty on the Academic Professional promotion track. Academic Professionals value the ability to work both independently and in a team to enhance the undergraduate program and to provide innovation in the curriculum. This position requires the ability to interact with a broad range of faculty, graduate students, and undergraduates.

We encourage those in the Academic Professional track to take advantage of professional development opportunities. Academic Professionals are typically provided with financial support to attend one professional meeting per year. A growing level of independence and impact is expected, through curriculum development; participation in, and development of, programs that enhance the student experience; and scholarship leading to publication and external grants.
