The Cornell SC Johnson College of Business invites applications for a part-time (approximately 50%) Senior Lecturer position in our Management and Organizations Area, intended for placement in the Samuel Curtis Johnson Graduate School of Management, with start date of July 2019. Applicants should have research and teaching interests related to management or leadership, with a background in organizational behavior or a related field.

The primary teaching required for this position will include courses in leadership, leading teams, and diversity, such as:

  1. Core Teams Practicum: This course is required of all MBA students at Johnson. It teaches tools and frameworks for working in teams, recognizing own strengths and weaknesses, effective use of feedback, and related topics. Students apply these tools concurrently in their core team assignments across core courses.
  2. Johnson Leadership Fellows: This course is taken by a select group of Johnson MBA students in the Fall semester of their second year. The course teaches students how to manage a team, handle conflict and crisis situations, give feedback effectively, and become leaders. The students apply the learnings from the course concurrently working as coaches for core teams for first year MBA students.
  3. Dialogues Across Differences: This is an elective MBA course where students learn about biases, the role they play in individual actions and leadership in organizations, and how to overcome challenges posed by biases in a diverse workplace. The course is based on discussions and self-reflection motivated by academic research and business cases.

The ideal candidate for this position will possess a Masters or a Ph.D. in Organizational Behavior or a related field, and have several years of practical leadership and teaching experience on topics related to the above courses at the MBA or executive level. 

The Cornell SC Johnson College of Business (established on July 1, 2016) combines three Schools. The Samuel Curtis Johnson Graduate School of Management (Johnson), the Charles H. Dyson School of Applied Economics and Management (Dyson), and the School of Hotel Administration (Hotel School). Faculty members in the Management and Organizations Area conduct research on diverse topics using a variety of research methods. This faculty position is based in Ithaca, NY. Most teaching will take place at the Ithaca campus, with the potential for some teaching at the Cornell Tech or Weill Cornell Medical College campuses in New York City.
