Position Description:    

Postdoctoral Associate Position in the department of Fiber Science and Apparel Design

College of Human Ecology

Cornell University

Functioning somewhat independently, the Postdoctoral Associate will develop multi-physics computational models for fabric composites and other fabric-based materials and design, manufacture and test composites. S/he will summarize research findings and publish results in research journals, assume general responsibility for scientific operations of the laboratory and provide supervision and guidance to students, and other researchers. Research efforts focus primarily on developing models that accurately represent physical processes in composite materials and fabrics, and calibration, validation, and utilization of those models using experiments and published reports.

The successful candidates will have:

  • A Ph.D. in a relevant Science or Engineering field
    (Proof that all PhD requirements have been fulfilled before the start date is required)
  • Knowledge of computer simulation and programming
  • Team player with excellent communication skills, and willingness to collaborate across disciplines
  • Independent, creative, and strongly motivated to conduct research

The position is fully funded for one year with a potential for renewal upon satisfactory performance.  Although the start date is flexible, it is preferred the candidate starts as soon as possible.
