Position Description:    

Associate in Research for Advanced Ophthalmic Imaging and Image-Guided Surgery System Development

An Associate in Research is sought to develop instrument control, signal/image processing, and visualization software to accompany ongoing hardware development of next-generation optical ophthalmic imaging instruments and image-guided surgical robotics. Expertise is required in: user interface design; interfacing with external hardware (e.g., ADC/DAC cards, high-speed cameras, robot controllers); software performance analysis and optimization; implementation of common signal/image processing algorithms (interpolation, windowing, filtering, FFT); robot kinematics and dynamics; and 3D graphics programming. Facility with modern C++ (e.g., C++11 or newer), multithreaded programming, and Git version control is required. Experience with graphical processing unit (GPU) software development using CUDA, 3D graphics using OpenGL, user interface design using Qt, and C++ build systems using CMake, and software project management using issue trackers is preferred. An interest in advanced user interface design (heads-up displays, immersive environments) will also be useful. This position requires skills and dedication to constructive interactions with scientific staff (graduate students, postdocs) and physician collaborators.
