A Senior Research Associate position is available in the Department of Microbiology & Immunology, College of Veterinary Medicine in the laboratory of Dr. Avery August. The successful candidate will be expected to conduct independent research in the field of immunology, with an emphasis on allergic airway inflammation, B cell maturation and regulation of IL10, supporting all ongoing research in the laboratory. They will seek independent funding as principal investigator, write grant proposals, and design, plan and execute the research. The incumbent will report on laboratory activities and accomplishments via research reports, presentations and writing manuscripts for publication in peer reviewed literature. They will oversee and guide the research of undergraduate and graduate students working in the lab. They will collaborate on other research projects with local, national and international collaborators. As the senior member in the lab, the incumbent will oversee the work of at least two technical/research support staff.

The successful candidate must have a PhD, MD and/or DVM degree with a high degree of training and experience in immunological approaches including flow cytometry, tissue culture (primary human, mouse and cell lines), molecular biology and cloning, RNA sequencing and analysis. Experience and comfort working with mice is required. Excellent written and oral communication, as well as interpersonal and organizational skills are also required.
