General Information

The new Dale E. and Sarah Ann Fowler School of Engineering at Chapman University invites applications for a non-tenure track instructional faculty position in the areas of in the areas of computer science, computer engineering, and/or electrical engineering at the rank of Instructor or Instructional Assistant Professor beginning in August 2020. Exceptionally well-qualified candidates with substantial teaching and supporting industry experience will be considered for appointment at an advanced rank (Instructional Associate or Full professor).

Opened in the fall of 2019, the Dale E. and Sarah Ann Fowler School of Engineering offers undergraduate degree programs in Computer Science, Computer Engineering, Data Analytics, and Software Engineering. An undergraduate program in Computer Engineering is expected to begin in 2020 and Electrical Engineering is expected to begin in 2021.

Qualifications

M.S. in computer science, computer engineering, or electrical engineering is required for appointment at the rank of Instructor. 

Ph.D. in computer science, computer engineering, computational science, data science, software engineering, or electrical engineering is required for all Professor ranks. 

All candidates must have a history of successful teaching at the undergraduate or graduate level.

Whereas we welcome applicants from all disciplines in these fields, preference will be given to candidates with backgrounds and teaching experience in artificial intelligence, machine learning, cybersecurity, computer networks, robotics, hardware design, electronics and circuits, computer programming, and modeling and simulation. Industry experience in the candidate’s field of expertise is preferred.

Responsibilities

Duties include teaching, student mentorship, and service to the university.

Teaching responsibilities may include the following courses: Computer Science I (CPSC 230), Computer Science II (CPSC 231), Computer Networks (CPSC 353), Robotics (CPSC 260), Digital Logic (CPSC 330), Computer Architecture (CPSC 351), Artificial Intelligence (CPSC 390), Data Science (CPSC 392), Electronics and Circuits (EE 200/300), Cybersecurity (CPSC454), and Systems Programming (CENG 231), among others.
