Vocal Coach/Conductor—Full Time Artist-in-Residence

Position for a distinguished artist/teacher.

The Department of Music at Stony Brook seeks a voice coach/conductor to prepare students in the performance of songs and opera. Appointee will have an exemplary reputation; profound understanding of the craft of singing; strong ability to communicate a vision; well versed in the vocal repertory in song and opera. Faculty will coach song and opera repertoire as well as diction in English, Italian, French, and German. Appointee will also have strong skills and experience as a music director, conductor, and teacher of conducting, and must be an excellent collaborative pianist. In addition, the appointee will have keen interest in and knowledge about music in its cultural and historical context so that opera productions align with the broader vision of the College of Arts and Sciences in its interdisciplinary initiatives. Appointee should also demonstrate a deep commitment to diversity in his or her recruiting efforts.
