Position Description:

Senior Postdoc Position in Particle Theory / Astroparticle Theory

The Research Training Group

"Mass and Symmetries after the Discovery of the Higgs Particle at the LHC" (RTG 2044)

at the University of Freiburg, funded by the Deutsche Forschungsgemeinschaft, has an opening for a

Senior Postdoc Position in Particle Theory / Astroparticle Theory

with a salary according TVL E13. The position is offered from 1st Oct 2020

The postdoc offer will be for 3+2 years, depending on qualification. The possibility to work towards a habilitation can be given. The focus of the RTG is devoted to particle phenomenology at the LHC, both on the experimental and theoretical side, as well as on astroparticle physics aspects. In particle phenomenology precision physics with electroweak gauge and Higgs bosons in and beyond the Standard Model play a central role, with a strong experimental group working on the ATLAS experiment and the theory groups of Profs. Dittmaier and Ita working on precision calculations and their quantum-fieldtheoretical basis.

In astroparticle physics, an experimental group works on the direct search for Dark Matter and axions with the XENON and CAST experiments, accompanied by a Young Researcher Group on the theory side.

The postdoc is expected to have a solid field-theoretical background and working experience in collider physics, in particular in the area of physics beyond the Standard Model and at the interface to astroparticle physics. A particular aim is to strengthen the collaboration between the theory groups and the Freiburg experimental high-energy physics and astroparticle physics groups. We are particularly pleased to receive applications from women for the position advertised here.

More details on the structure of the high-energy physics and astroparticle physics groups may be found under http://www.physik.uni-freiburg.de/research and additional information on the RTG under http://www.grk2044.uni-freiburg.de.

Applications - including a CV, two letters of recommendation, and a short essay specifying the field of research interest – should be sent before 8th Dec 2019 to AJO online

Later applications may still be accepted without guarantee to be considered in the selection process.
