Position title: Postdoctoral Associate

Location: School of Integrative Plant Science, College of Agriculture and Life Sciences, Cornell University, Ithaca, New York

Description and Responsibilities:

The laboratories of Dr. Taryn Bauerle and Dr. Johannes Lehmann at Cornell University invite applications for a Postdoctoral Associate in the area of rhizosphere ecology and plant water relations. The postdoctoral associate will conduct field and lab based research using new imaging technologies to examine plant root exudates and soil carbon dynamics as part of a funded project on rhizosphere water and carbon dynamics.

Division of time:       40% Data gathering in both field and lab based research scenarios

                                   25% Data analyses

                                   35% Manuscript and grant proposal writing


This position will not supervise others.

Required Qualifications:

Applicants must have a Ph.D. in plant ecophysiology, plant science, soil science, environmental microbiology, or related discipline(s) completed by start date. Excellent English communication skills are expected.  The candidate should have documented expertise in root exudates, soil biogeochemistry or microbial ecology focusing on plant-soil interactions and/or spatiotemporal patterns of chemical and biological properties in the rhizosphere.

Preferred Qualifications:

Other preferred qualifications include- experience in conducting field-scale experiments, ability to work both independently and collaboratively, ability to formulate creative, hypothesis-driven projects, and a strong record of publications.
