Applications are invited for two two-year post-doctoral positions at the Mandelstam Institute for Theoretical Physics at the University of the Witwatersrand, Johannesburg. One position commences on 1 October 2020. The second position commences on 1 January 2021.
Applicants should work in string theory and must have a track record of accomplishment and independence in their research.
While our post-docs have the freedom to pursue their own research interests, preference will be given to applicants whose research activities overlap with members of the institute: Pallab Basu, Robert de Mello Koch, Kevin Goldstein, Shinji Hirano, Vishnu Jejjala, João Rodrigues, Hossein Yavartanoo, and Costas Zoubos.
The appointments are subject to approval by the appropriate funding agencies. We can apply for additional funding to extend the term of the fellowship, but this is not guaranteed. A post-doc can expect a reasonable stipend for research related travel in addition to airfare to Johannesburg on starting. |
