Position Description: Benedictine University Department of Nutrition invites applications for a full-time tenure-track faculty appointment as Assistant or Associate Professor. Position involves teaching in our on-line and on campus graduate and undergraduate nutrition programs. Appointment date is Fall semester 2020. 

Benedictine University is a liberal arts institution located in the research corridor of metropolitan Chicago with nationally recognized programs.  Founded as a Catholic university in 1887, Benedictine University is located in Lisle, Illinois, a vibrant and family friendly western suburb of Chicago.  Benedictine is within easy driving distance of everything Chicago has to offer, while providing a safe environment voted amongst the best places to live in America.  The College of Education and Health Services has grown to include Public Health, Nursing, Nutrition, Exercise and Sports Science, Educational Leadership, Elementary and Special Education, and over 40 faculty members and 1,200 full and part-time students. The Department of Nutrition houses five degrees: BS in Nutrition and Dietetics, BA in Health Education and Promotion, BA in Food and Nutrition Management, MS in Nutrition and Dietetics (with Dietetic Internship), and MS in Nutrition and Wellness.

Deliver engaging student-centered teaching online and on campus for graduate and undergraduate nutrition courses. Course topics include Research Methods, Nutritional Biochemistry/Metabolism, and Professional Writing. Other courses to be determined. 

Provide academic and career advising to students. 

Contribute to curricular development and systematic program review. 

Conduct research/scholarly activity in an area of expertise and dissemination of findings.

Participate in professional development and service.

Supervise student research.

Minimum Qualifications: 

Earned doctorate in Nutrition, or a closely related field with at 18 or more graduate credit hours earned in nutrition, from a regionally accredited institution.

Credentialed as a Registered Dietitian Nutritionist by CDR.

Professional experience post credentialing as RD/RDN in nutrition-related settings.

Experience teaching.

Demonstrated ability to utilize technology and online delivery methods.

Evidence of capacity for scholarly/research accomplishments.

Preferred qualifications:

Experience with teaching in hybrid and online delivery modes at the undergraduate and/or graduate levels

Professional work or research experience in community or public health settings.

Strong written and verbal communication skills.

Ability to interact successfully and work harmoniously with colleagues and students in a diverse community
