The Fermilab Theoretical Physics Department invites applications for postdoctoral research appointments in the Theoretical Astrophysics Group starting in the Fall of 2020. Fermilab Theory postdocs perform self-directed theoretical research on topics of their own choosing. They are encouraged to work with members of the senior scientific staff and other postdocs within the Department. The Theoretical Astrophysics Group has a wide range of interests, including theory of the early universe, large-scale structure and evolution, dark matter and dark energy, ultra-high energy cosmic rays, neutrino astrophysics, and a growing program in numerical cosmology.

The Theoretical Astrophysics Group has deep involvement in the Fermilab experimental program including Astrophysics probes such as the Dark Energy Survey, the South Pole Telescope, the Large Synoptic Survey Telescope, the Dark Energy Spectroscopic Instrument; Neutrino experiments such as MicroBoone, SBNF, Icarus and DUNE); the Large Hadron collider CMS experiment through the LHC Physics Center and several direct dark matter detection experiments (CDMS, ADMX, LZ) as well as in nurturing novel ideas for Dark matter and Dark Sector experiments. Theory department members can be involved in any of these efforts as well as in the development of future projects.

The staff members of the astrophysics group include Scott Dodelson (LOA) Joshua Frieman, Nick Gnedin, Craig Hogan, Dan Hooper, and Albert Stebbins.
