The Cornell University Department of Music seeks a composer for a full-time, tenure-track or tenure-eligible position to begin July 1st, 2020. Salary is commensurate with experience and qualifications. The ideal candidate will have an active professional career with an international reputation or the clear potential for one.

Applicants must possess a doctorate or equivalent professional experience and be qualified to supervise doctoral students in Composition. Preferred candidates will demonstrate the highest standards of professional and artistic accomplishment, research, teaching, and service, complementing and extending the strengths of the current faculty.

Responsibilities include teaching composition lessons, graduate and undergraduate theoretical and practical courses such as orchestration or analysis, as well as graduate seminars drawn from the candidate's areas of expertise. The successful candidate will work in concert with faculty colleagues to supervise student composition projects and performances as well as organize the Composers' Forum, which brings renowned guest composers, artists, scholars, and performers to campus several times a year.
