Position Description:

The Bellamkonda lab is seeking applicants who hold a PhD degree in botany, biology, zoology, psychology or other directly related scientific field. The primary responsibilities for this position are to perform molecular biology and biology-based research to aid in ongoing projects. The successful applicant must be experienced in standard molecular and biochemical techniques: PCR, RNA/DNA/protein isolation & purification, gel electrophoresis, cloning, Western blotting, ELISA

Specific duties are:

1) Collect information and data through observation, experimentation and various other methods, to include operating highly technical laboratory instruments and equipment.

2) Review journals, abstracts and scientific literature to keep abreast of new developments in molecular biology and to obtain information regarding previous experiments to aid in the design and development of original procedures and techniques.

3) Prepare tissue and specimens for complex procedures, and devise experimental techniques for tests and analyses. Evaluate and interpret collected data and prepare reports and analyses setting forth progress, adverse trends and appropriate recommendations or conclusions.

4) Confer with principal investigator in determining specific experiments to be included in the research protocol and to discuss the interpretation of results. Play an integral role in the aiding other researchers in their projects by assisting in cutting edge molecular biology based techniques and technologies.

5) Maintain accurate records of protocols, results, and interpretation.

6) Supervise, train and instruct other research staff, students or lower level personnel in laboratory techniques and procedures as required, and perform other related duties incidental to the work described herein.
