The research unit "Physics of the Universe, Fields and Gravitation" of the University of Mons (Belgium) invites applications for a two-year postdoctoral fellowship in high-energy theoretical physics to begin in fall 2020.

The group includes faculty members Nicolas Boulanger and Andrea Campoleoni, as well as a postdoc and four PhD students. An additional one-year postdoctoral position is expected to be filled between 2020 and 2021 and the group maintains close contacts with the hep-th groups of ULB and VUB in Brussels and of KU Leuven. The group interests include several aspects of quantum field theory, string theory and mathematical physics, with a focus on higher-spin gauge theories, quantisation of gauge systems and AdS/CFT.

The position is funded by the FNRS grants "Higher-spin symmetries: from tensionless strings to condensed matter" and "Fundamental issues in extended gravity" and includes substantial travel allowances. Eligible candidates cannot have previously worked in Belgium.

Candidates interested in the position are invited to apply via the Academic Jobs Online website.

Applications should include a curriculum vitae, a research statement, a list of publications, and three letters of recommendation. To obtain full consideration, applications should be received by 18 January 2020.
