The Department of Physics and Astronomy at the University of Kentucky, Lexington seeks a postdoctoral researcher to join the research group of Prof. Susan Gardner ( Candidates are expected to have recently earned a Ph.D. (or to have earned one by no later than August 1, 2020) in the fields of theoretical nuclear and/or particle physics, and/or in closely aligned topics in theoretical astrophysics --- and to have an interest in the interpretation of physical phenomena. The position would start August 1, 2020 and be for a two-year term. Candidates are expected to have demonstrated expertise in theoretical physics, to have excellent oral and written communication skills, and to have respect for the principles of diversity and inclusion. Candidates are expected to engage in research pertinent to the identification and study of new physics through low-energy precision measurements (and observations), with the study of fundamental symmetry violation in hadrons and nuclei, dark matter, flavor physics, and/or neutrino physics being topics of particular interest.
