Clinical Track Faculty Position

DESCRIPTION 

The Ohio State University Department of Mechanical and Aerospace Engineering invites applications for the position of clinical track position. Successful candidates in this position will have the opportunity to lead The Ohio State University aviation community, as the Director of the Center for Aviation Studies, an interdisciplinary research and academic center within the College of Engineering.  The incumbent will work closely with the senior leadership of the Don Scott Airport (KOSU), to further the overall strategy for the airport as a learning, research and operation Ohio State campus for aviation and aerospace related activities. The incumbent will lead the planning and execution of strategic research initiatives in the area of aviation modernization and perform one or more of the following: teach undergraduate and/or graduate courses in engineering or related area; advise students; conduct research; contribute to scholarly publications; serve on departmental, college, and university committees; participate in professional organizations. The search preference is for individuals at the full professor level, but all will be considered.  The position will be part-time the first year and full-time the second year.

QUALIFICATIONS

The successful candidate will hold a Ph.D. in aviation or related engineering discipline, or a Master’s degree and have demonstrated substantial experience over their career in leading and managing large, technical, and/or complex organizations, and will have substantial experience in aerospace, aviation and/or air traffic research.  Experience across more than one of the following domains - government, industry, and academia is preferred along with demonstrated excellence in management and leadership of organizations with air and/or space flight operations, to include piloting, crew, maintenance, or other areas. In addition, established relationships with government organizations such as the Federal Aviation Administration, NASA, DoD, and the aviation industry are desired.
