Applications are invited for an NSF-funded post-doctoral position in Computational Biophysics beginning Summer 2020.  The successful applicant will work in the research group of Professor Juan Vanegas in the Department of Physics at the University of Vermont. Research in the Vanegas group (http://vanegaslab.org) is highly interdisciplinary with many topics at the interface of biophysics, chemistry and materials science. Specific areas of research include structure and mechanics of biomembranes, membrane protein interactions, and gating of mechanosensitive channels.

The successful applicant will work closely with Professor Vanegas on the development of state of the art continuum analysis tools from molecular dynamics simulations, including local stress and elasticity calculations (http://mdstress.org), as well as steered simulation methods to accelerate the tension-induced activation of mechanosensitive proteins.

Interested candidates with a Ph.D. in Physics, Biophysics, Chemistry or related field are encouraged to apply. Applicants should upload the following documents:
  • Cover letter describing their research interests, experience, and fit for the position,
  • CV including publication list,
  • Representative paper (preferably first author), and
