Distinguished PCS Postdoctoral Research Fellow
(IBS Research Fellow Position)

The Center for Theoretical Physics of Complex Systems (PCS) invites applications for a 2+2-year Distinguished PCS Postdoctoral Research Fellow position (IBS Research Fellow Position) in quantum physics, condensed matter physics, mesoscopics, non-equilibrium quantum thermodynamics, physics of light, or related areas.

The research work will focus on modern and important topics in the broadly defined field of theoretical physics of complex systems, including all present activities of the PCS, as well as new directions with strong cross-fertilization potential.

The successful candidate will be offered a flexible start date, competitive salary (commensurate with experience), guaranteed equipment and travel budget, as well as an opportunity to co-supervise a Ph.D. student.

Strong oral and written communication skills, excellent computational skills, and the ability to work effectively and congenially with other PCS members are essential. Applicants should also have a strong interest to work in a multidisciplinary and dynamic research environment, as well as a Ph.D. obtained earliest in 2010.

The Institute for Basic Science (IBS), established in November 2011, is Korea’s first dedicated basic science research institute. Currently, 30 research centers in physics, chemistry, mathematics, life sciences, earth science, and interdisciplinary fields operate under the IBS. For more information see www.ibs.re.kr.

The Center for Theoretical Physics of Complex Systems (PCS), operated under the IBS, was founded in December 2014, with scientific activities starting in May 2015. Besides hosting resident researchers, the PCS runs an active Visitor and Workshop Program aimed at providing young scientists an excellent research environment and connections with worldwide leaders in a broad variety of emerging fields.
