Duke University, Durham, North Carolina. The Department of Chemistry invites applications for a Chemistry Demonstrator/Science Outreach Coordinator Position to begin July 1, 2020. Duties will involve (1) creating, maintaining, and curating demonstrations for the Department of Chemistry, performing live demonstrations, and providing materials and training necessary for instructors to perform demonstrations and (2) maintaining and growing Duke’s strong tradition of science outreach activities, including coordinating efforts by undergraduates and graduate student volunteers from multiple science departments to present at local museums and K-12 schools, assisting with proposal broader impact activities, and consulting on grant writing and faculty outreach plans with an emphasis on ongoing diversity and inclusion efforts that reach broad audiences and underserved groups within the community. Candidates should hold a Masters or Ph.D. in Chemistry and have a track record of involvement in K-12 education or public science outreach events.
