An Associate in Research position is available to work jointly with Professor George Truskey in the Department of Biomedical Engineering at Duke University and Dr. Muath Bishawi in the Department of Surgery. Projects will involve cell culture studies with human vascular endothelium and engineered blood vessels to examine the effect radiation, cytokines, drugs, and modified lipoproteins on cell and blood vessel function. The qualified candidate will have experience in: isolation and culture of cells, differentiation of induced pluripotent cells to various cell types, flow cytometry, preparation and characterization of modified forms of low-density lipoprotein, prepare and monitor microphysiological systems, analysis of gene expression using RT-PCR and protein levels using Western blotting, and knowledge of Solidworks or other CAD software.
