Instructor or Assistant Professor Faculty Position 
in Health Informatics and Implementation Science

The University of Massachusetts Medical School is recruiting outstanding candidates for a  non-tenure-track Instructor or Assistant Professor faculty position to join a rapidly growing Division of Health Informatics and Implementation Science in the Department of Population and Quantitative Health Sciences. The successful candidate is expected to work with principal investigators on the management of research projects and submit for federal grant funding as co-investigator and principal investigator.

Position responsibilities:

Individuals will be expected to collaborate in an extramurally funded health informatics research program, teach in graduate courses, and engage in health informatics activities on campus. Major divisional thematic areas with current federal funding include patient facing technology research (personal health records, data mining, drug surveillance, and mobile health), translational research, and innovations in phenotypic data warehousing, information extraction and retrieval, and machine learning.

We are interested in candidates who are in the area of patient technology, mobile health, and implementation science, particularly those who apply these to the field of cancer care or survivorship.

Required Teaching/Research/Clinical Specialty:

Successful candidates should have an MD, PhD, or equivalent degree, experience with biomedical informatics, computer science, or related fields.

Information about UMMS, the Department, and the Division:

Health Informatics and Implementation Science is one of four divisions within the Department of Quantitative Health Sciences, founded in 2009.  Our Division currently houses nine faculty within a Department with 34 primary and 25 secondary faculty.  Our faculty also direct federally funded projects working through a national VA center located at the Edith Nourse Rogers Memorial VA Medical Center.

The University has a formal relationship with VA Hospitals in Massachusetts.  Joint appointment with a VA research unit is possible, and strongly encouraged.  Divisional faculty have current collaborative grants with Worcester Polytechnic Institute and others with investigators at the Center for Intelligent Information Retrieval at UMass Amherst.
