Position Overview: The Department of Psychology at Merrimack College invites applications for a non-tenure-track Lecturer position for the Clinical Mental Health Counseling program beginning fall 2020. An earned doctorate in Counselor Education, Counseling Psychology or a closely related field is preferred.

The successful candidate should demonstrate the experience or ability to teach 4 or more courses among the following areas: Counseling Theories, Counseling Techniques, Multicultural Counseling, Group Counseling, Psychological Assessment, and/or Trauma. The candidate should have experience in clinical supervision and training and demonstrated commitment to infusing multicultural content and social justice principles in curriculum and training. It is preferred that the candidate is license eligible or holds licensure as a mental health counselor and/or a psychologist in the state of Massachusetts or in the New England region.

The Master of Science in Clinical Mental Health Counseling (CMHC) program meets the growing demand for mental health counseling in a number of different settings, including outpatient centers, hospitals, colleges, human resource departments, substance abuse treatment centers, non-profits, and government agencies. The CMHC program enables students to fulfill the education and degree requirements to apply for the designation of Licensed Mental Health Counselor (LMHC) in the Commonwealth of Massachusetts. Aligned with the mission of Merrimack College, the program emphasizes the development of professionals who are committed to the delivery of quality care to culturally diverse clients and families, using strength-based approaches. The program’s structure demonstrates the commitment to social justice and community engagement. The CMHC program is an evening program wherein currently all classes are taught after 5:00 pm.
