Applications are invited for a 2.5-year postdoctoral research position at the Kavli IPMU, the University of Tokyo, dedicated to the study of gamma-ray imaging and its applications to various fields including medical research.

The position is under the Kakenhi project, Grant-in-Aid for Scientific Research on Innovative Areas, 18H05457, “Toward new frontiers: Encounter and synergy of state-of-the-art astronomical detectors and exotic quantum beams” (PI: Tadayuki Takahashi). We seek individuals who conduct experimental researches in collaboration with Tadayuki Takahashi and other researchers at the Kavli Institute for the Physics and Mathematics of the Universe (Kavli IPMU) at the University of Tokyo.

The successful candidate is expected to have experiences for manufacturing and analyzing hard X-ray and gamma-ray semiconductor imagers with a sub-mm spatial resolution for in vivo imaging of small animal or uses in accelerator experiments. It is preferable that the candidates also have experiences in image reconstruction of X-ray or gamma-ray detectors for space telescopes. Understanding of response from semiconductor detectors and image reconstruction algorithm are also required. The applicant should have a Ph.D. in physics.
