POCASSET FACILITY MEDICAL DIRECTOR

The University of Massachusetts Medical School (UMMS) seeks a board-certified psychiatrist to serve as the Facility Medical Director (FMD) for The Cape Cod and the Islands Community Mental Health Center in Pocasset, MA. The Facility Medical Director’s primary responsibility is to provide administrative and clinical oversight for the DMH operated and contracted state hospital and community support programs. As a clinical leader within DMH, we are looking for inspired leadership in the recovery model of care for the people we serve. More specific responsibilities include utilization management, risk management, support for DMH initiatives, and oversight of clinical and psychopharmacology services. There are opportunities for research, including protected time depending on experience and goals. Successful candidates must be a licensed Massachusetts physician with board certification in psychiatry. Preferred qualifications would include facility in teaching professionals, lay public, consumers, as well as trainees such as medical students and residents. The Department of Psychiatry is a national leader in public sector psychiatry, child and adolescent psychiatry, neurodevelopmental disorders, biological psychiatry, neuropsychiatry, forensic psychiatry, psychosocial rehabilitation, women’s mental health, and addiction psychiatry. We integrate our clinical, research, teaching and community partnership activities to help individuals and families transform their lives through recovery from mental illness and addiction. We are the largest provider of psychiatric services in central Massachusetts with over 350 faculty and 10 hospitals and community mental health centers. Our residency program trains 7 residents per year including general psychiatry and specialty tracks for combined adult and child psychiatry and combined neurology and psychiatry. We offer fellowships in Child and Adolescent Psychiatry, Addiction Psychiatry, Forensic Psychiatry, Neuropsychiatry, and Adult Developmental Disabilities. The successful candidate will receive a faculty appointment and access to Departmental support for clinical, training and research purposes. The department sponsors weekly CME and risk management training opportunities throughout the academic year. The benefit package is designed specifically for Medical School Faculty, including malpractice coverage, health, disability and life insurance, in addition to retirement savings with the option of a pension plan. There are 13 paid holidays, 4 weeks of paid vacation, three paid conference days, 2 paid personal days, and a $3,000 annual practice allowance. There is no required on-call. There is the option for voluntary night, weekend and holiday coverage with highly competitive reimbursement.
