Postdoctoral Associate: Modes and genetics of gut microbiota transmission  

A full-time postdoctoral position is available in the Moeller laboratory, Department of Ecology and Evolutionary Biology, Cornell University. This position is funded by an NIH Maximizing Investigators’ Research Award to study the dynamics and genetic bases of bacterial transmission in the mouse gut microbiota. 

The primary responsibilities of this position include 1) conducting field and laboratory research to meet the goals of the proposal, 2) overseeing development of field and lab sampling protocols and downstream bioinformatic analyses of data, 3) analyzing -omics data and writing manuscripts, and 4) contributing to mentoring and coordination of projects of graduate and undergraduate students involved in research. 

Qualifications:
• Ph.D. in evolutionary biology, microbiology, genetics, or a closely related field 
• Experience with relevant literature and research methods 
• Expertise in generation and analyses of genomic and/or metagenomic datasets 
• Ability to organize and lead ongoing enclosure experiments 
• Ability and desire to work collaboratively, mentor graduate and undergraduate students, and to also work independently 
• Project leadership, time management, communication, and writing skills 
• Strong record of publication
