The Kumar lab in the Josephine Bay Paul Center, MBL is looking for a postdoctoral scientist in the area of optical microscopy. Candidate will work on designing and building a multi-view line scan confocal microscope, develop control software and test the performance of the system. The incumbent participates in multi-lab collaborative efforts and has knowledge of optical microscope design, microscope building, developing Graphical User Interface and image analysis.Â
Duties include:
Design and build a multi-view line scan confocal
Develop graphical user interfaces for microscope hardware control
Participate in multi-laboratory collaborative project
Implement adaptive optics with line scan confocal
Implement spectral imaging in line scan confocal
Assist in training users (MBL scientists, visitors and course students) to use the newly developed microscope
Test the performance of the system
Assist with writing and submitting scientific publications related to research efforts to disseminate key findings.
 May perform other related duties as assigned
Qualifications:
PhD degree in Physics/Biology/Bioengineering and background in optical microscope building
Hands on experience in scientific computing
Extensive programming skills in Matlab/Python/LabVIEW
Knowledge of microscope hardware design and basic optics
Incumbent must be interactive, collaborative, and proactive with good communication skills and self-motivation.
Motivated self-starter capable of working both independently and as a member of a team
