Position Description:    

The Master’s Program in the Pratt School of Engineering at Duke University (Durham, NC) invites applications for a Non Regular Rank Executive in Residence position. The Pratt School of Engineering is seeking a director to lead and mange a new Master of Engineering degree track focused on Autonomous Systems Engineering.

The major responsibilities of this position will be to (1) teach four courses per year and (2) to be the Academic Director of the Master of Engineering in Autonomous Systems Engineering program. In this role, you will be expected to:
  • Develop and oversee a world class interdisciplinary academic program in Autonomous Systems Engineering in collaboration with colleagues.
  • Collaborate across program, department and school boundaries.
  • Identify and hire innovative faculty to teach the Autonomous Systems Engineering curriculum.
  • Develop and deliver innovative, problem-based courses related to Autonomous Systems Engineering.
  • Support the development of co-curricular programs for students related to Autonomous Systems Engineering.
  • Support the student recruiting and student admissions process.
Ideal candidates would have Autonomous Systems Engineering experience in either an academic or corporate setting. They would also have a PhD or commensurate industry experience/expertise in an Autonomous Systems Engineering related discipline, such as Computer Engineering, Computer Science, Economics or Business, as well as teaching/course development experience. This position is expected to be full time, but other levels of commitment may be considered.
