General Information

The College of Engineering at Anderson University invites applications for several tenure-track instructional positions in the areas of electrical engineering and computer engineering at the rank of assistant professor. Exceptionally well-qualified candidates with substantial teaching and supporting industry experience will be considered for appointment at an advanced rank (associate or full professor).

Opened in the fall of 2020, the College of Engineering offers undergraduate degree programs in Mechanical Engineering, Electrical Engineering, and Computer Engineering. Anderson University’s College of Engineering is committed to student-centered learning by employing an innovative engineering curriculum that embraces the following educational philosophical elements: 1) Comply with the core AU Gold liberal arts tradition of debate, rhetoric and theology. 2) Establish entrepreneurship/entrepreneurism as a central thread throughout the delivery of engineering content. 3) Employ an inverted curriculum with hands-on engineering experiences beginning in the first year. 4) Use flipped classes that emphasize the use of technology to achieve independent learning and group problem solving, much like the real world. 5) A required practica/internship.

Qualifications

A Ph.D. in electrical engineering or computer engineering is required for all professor ranks. A minimum M.S. in electrical engineering or computer engineering is required for appointment at the rank of instructor. Whereas we welcome applicants from all disciplines in these fields, preference will be given to candidates with backgrounds and teaching experience in artificial intelligence, machine learning, cybersecurity, computer networks, robotics, hardware design, electronics and circuits, computer programming, and modeling and simulation with scholarly interests in the application of these to problems in human health and biomedicine. All candidates must have a record of successful impactful teaching at the undergraduate or graduate level. Industry experience in the candidate’s field of expertise is preferred.

Responsibilities

The successful candidate will teach 4 courses per semester, participate in personal and professional development, engage in student-centered inquiry and contribute to university and professional service.
