Position Description:

*** this position has been closed and new applications are no longer accepted. ***

The Sheng Yang He Lab at Duke University, Department of Biology, has openings for Postdoctoral Associates. The lab utilizes contemporary methods in molecular genetics, genomics, cell biology, biochemistry, bioinformatics and microbiology to answer basic and translational questions in the study of “plant-microbe-climate” multidimensional interactions. The candidates, in consultation with Professor He, can choose projects to advance the understanding of how plants respond to pathogens, insects and microbiota under changing climatic conditions. This is an emerging research topic of significant practical implications for the design of climate-resilient crop plants of the future. Specific questions can include (i) how plants “sense” abnormal temperature and humidity and (ii) how these climate-sensing pathways connect to plant immune signaling and pathogen/insect/microbiota interactions.

Candidates for these positions should have obtained, at the time of the position start date, a Ph.D. degree in molecular genetics, cell biology, microbiology, plant biology, entomology, plant pathology or a related field. Candidates should have a record of first-author publications demonstrating experiences in molecular genetics, large-scale genomics or protein biochemistry. Experience with plants and microbes are desirable but not required. There will be significant opportunities for professional growth and career development activities. We will continue to review applications on a rolling basis as they are submitted until the appropriate candidates has been identified.

Interested applicants should apply via Academic Jobs online.
