Berkeley Lab’s Physics Division has an opening for a Postdoctoral Fellow to work on data analysis and/or instrumentation for the Cosmic Microwave Background (CMB) Group!


What You Will Do:

  • Work on analysis methodology, data analysis and/or instrumentation for Cosmic Microwave Background experiments.

  • Conduct original research independently and in collaboration.

  • Interact with LBNL and other investigators working on similar or related scientific problems.

  • Prepare research papers for publication.

  • Present research findings at seminars and conferences.


What is Required: 

  • A recent Ph.D. in Physics, Astronomy, or related field with less than 3 years of experience since Ph.D. thesis.

  • At least one year of experience in experimental or theoretical cosmology (this may include experience as a graduate student).

  • Demonstrated ability to work in the research environment.

  • Excellent written, oral, and interpersonal communication skills with the ability to work within a team to accomplish goals on a collaborative project.

Notes:

  • This is a full time, M-F, exempt from overtime pay (monthly paid), 2-year postdoctoral appointment with the possibility of renewal based upon satisfactory job performance, continuing availability of funds, and ongoing operational needs. You must have less than 3 years of paid postdoctoral experience. 

  • Salary for Postdoctoral positions depends on years of experience post-degree and predetermined based on postdoctoral step rates.

  • This position is represented by a union for collective bargaining purposes.
