The C.N. Yang Institute for Theoretical Physics (YITP, http://insti.physics.sunysb.edu/itp/www/ ) at Stony Brook University anticipates filling several postdoctoral research appointments, with anticipated appointment dates of September 1, 2021.

The Institute especially invites applications from candidates with strong records of accomplishment in theoretical physics, especially particle phenomenology, theoretical cosmology, quantum chromodynamics, quantum field theory and integrable models. The terms of these appointments will depend on experience.

Required Qualifications:
Completion of all requirements for a doctoral degree or foreign equivalent in theoretical physics or closely related field, with a record of independent research. Preference may be given to applicants with experience related to at least one of the areas described above. Local position titles and salaries will depend on experience.

Brief Description of Duties:
The postdoctoral researcher will conduct research in the field of the researcher’s choice in theoretical physics. The researcher may collaborate with senior and junior members of the C.N. Yang Institute for Theoretical Physics, as well as members of other research institutes, and may travel for research purposes.

Research fields currently represented at the YITP include, but are not limited to, quantum field theory, string theory, particle theory, cosmology, condensed matter, statistical mechanics, and quantum information theory. The Institute has a tradition of collaboration with the Departments of Physics and Astronomy and of Mathematics at Stony Brook and with Brookhaven National Laboratory, and has close connections to the Simons Center for Geometry and Physics.
