*** this position has been closed and new applications are no longer accepted. ***

We invite applications for a postdoc position at the University of Zurich (UZH) in the studies of physics and detectors for the Future Circular Collider FCC-ee.

The particle physics experimental groups at UZH are engaged in data analysis, software, and operations of the CMS and LHCb detector. At CMS, we are interested in performing in-depth investigations of the Standard Model of the top quark and Higgs boson and direct searches for physics beyond the SM. We have been involved in the construction of the original and phase-1 CMS barrel pixel detector, and we have an important role in the pixel detector upgrade for the CMS phase-2. Moreover, we have also recently engaged in the L1 Trigger upgrade for the CMS phase-2. All of these projects are carried out in close collaboration with national and international institutions.

The successful candidate is expected to take a leading role in simulation studies and development of silicon sensors for vertex detectors. The position is initially limited to two years with the possibility of extension up to 4 years. Applicants must be near completion or hold a PhD degree obtained within the past 6 years and have a solid experience in experimental particle physics. Good software skills are desirable. Experience in detector simulations and in R&D of depleted monolithic active pixel sensors (DMAPS) are considered an asset. The candidate could have the possibility to focus some of her/his activities within the CMS experiment, and will have the opportunity to work with and contribute to the supervision of bachelor, master, and doctoral students.

Applicants should upload a cover letter, curriculum vitae, research statement, publication list, and arrange at least three letters of recommendation to be submitted by the reference writers. Materials should be received by February 1st, 2021. Complete applications will be considered immediately. Applications received after that date will be considered until the position is filled. Enquiries concerning the positions can be made to Prof. Florencia Canelli (canelli@physik.uzh.ch).
