We invite applications for one or two postdoctoral fellowships with two-year terms and possible extension to three years, to begin in October 2021, in the domains of scattering amplitudes and gravitational waves. The fellowship(s) will be funded by the recently awarded European Research Council Advanced Grant, "Ampl2Einstein" (ERC--2019--ADG~885414).
The fellowship(s) will be held at the Institut de Physique Theorique (IPhT) at Saclay in the Paris suburbs, and may include extended research visits to the partner institution, CERN, in Geneva. The postdoctoral researcher(s) will work primarily on the subject of theoretical predictions for gravitational waves using techniques from quantum scattering amplitudes. The fellowship salary will be according to the CEA's scale.
Applicants must hold, or be pursuing, a doctoral degree in a relevant subfield of theoretical physics. For applicants currently pursuing doctoral studies, the commencement of the fellowship is contingent upon a successful defense of their PhD thesis by September, 2021. In addition, applicants must be fluent (reading, writing, and speaking) in English. A short list of applicants will be selected based on their CVs, publications, research statements, and comments from referees.
Applicants on the short list may be interviewed remotely to select the incoming fellow(s). Applications should include a CV, a list of publications, and a brief research statement. Applicants should arrange for submission of three letters of reference from established researchers familiar with their work.
All materials should be uploaded electronically to Academic Jobs Online.
Applications should be received by December 15, 2020 in order to receive full consideration.
