Joint UCLA and LBNL Postdoctoral Fellow

The High-Energy Nuclear Theory Group at UCLA and the Nuclear Theory Group at UC Berkeley/LBNL have a “joint” postdoctoral fellow position available in the fall of 2021. The position is initially for a duration of 1 year with a second year contingent on performance and funding. The postdoc is expected to work closely with Prof. Zhongbo Kang at UCLA and Dr. Xin-Nian Wang at UC Berkeley/LBNL, and is expected to split the time between UCLA and Berkeley equally. The research interests are primarily QCD theory and phenomenology which are relevant to the experimental program at the Large Hadron Collider, the Relativistic Heavy Ion Collider, and the future Electron Ion Collider.

Successful candidates must have a recent Ph.D. in Theoretical Nuclear or Particle Physics, and the ability to work productively within UCLA and UC Berkeley/LBNL’s diverse research environment, including the production and publication of original research and the effective presentation of research results in seminars and at scientific conferences.

Please submit a cover letter, research statement, CV and publication list and arrange for three letters of recommendation using Academic Jobs Online. The deadline for applications is December 15, 2020.

For further inquiries, please contact Zhongbo Kang (zkang-at-g.ucla.edu) and Xin-Nian Wang (xnwang-at-lbl-dot-gov). For further information, visit: http://kang-research-group.physics.ucla.edu/ and https://nt.lbl.gov/.

Both UCLA and LBNL are Equal Opportunity/Affirmative Action Employers. All qualified applicants will receive consideration for employment without regard to race, color, religion, sex, sexual orientation, gender identity, national origin, disabilit, age or protected veteran status.
