Position Description:    

The Department of Civil and Environmental Engineering (CEE) at Temple University invites applications for a tenure-track (TT) faculty position at the rank of Assistant Professor in environmental area. The primary interests include, but are not limited to, innovative materials/processes in water treatment, groundwater quality, drinking water and disinfection, and water reuse. Any strong scholastic approach will be considered, with special attention to assessments of physicochemical processes by combining experimental and computational tools. The expertise of the candidate is expected to complement existing talent in the Department. Successful candidates will have a Ph.D. in Environmental Engineering or a related field and a record of excellent scholarly accomplishments. Priority will be given to applicants with post-doctoral experience and ability to get professional licensure. The successful candidates are expected to: (1) teach undergraduate and graduate courses in environmental engineering; (2) develop an active, externally-funded research program; (3) supervise doctoral and master’s students; and (4) engage in service activities with professional organizations and the university.

The CEE Department is one of the fastest growing departments in the college with vibrant and successful undergraduate, graduate and research programs, and with the recent introduction of a BS degree in Environmental Engineering. The Department hosts a National Science Foundation I/UCRC Water and Environmental Technology (WET) Center, and a number of industries and agencies are recent research sponsors. They include the NSF, various DOT’s, DoD, EPA, NOAA, NIH, PA DEP, PA DCED, EPRI, Philadelphia Water Department, and the Department also has a master services agreement with the Commonwealth of Pennsylvania.
