Position Overview: The Winston School of Education & Social Policy and the Master in Social Work Program at Merrimack College invite applications for a non-tenure track assistant professor of practice who will serve as the Director of Field Education to begin spring 2021. This is a ten-month, fulltime, position that includes graduate teaching, administrative and community outreach responsibilities. The MSW Director of Field Education will provide administrative oversight to Merrimack College’s MSW Field Education program and will participate in the overall design, assessment, and development of the MSW curriculum, including helping to develop an assessment of the signature pedagogy – field education. Administrative responsibilities include recruitment and evaluation of appropriate field learning sites; conducting a student orientation to field education; placement of students in practicum sites; and periodic site visits. Travel to field sites throughout the greater Merrimack Valley area is required. Teaching responsibilities for the position include conducting the year-long social work practicum seminar; and instruction in other graduate social work courses as needed.
Qualifications: This position requires an MSW from a CSWE-accredited program. Candidates must have at least two years post-MSW social work practice experience and demonstrate knowledge of social work field education. Preference will be given to candidates with knowledge of and experience with Merrimack Valley-area human services and community-based organizations. Priority will be given to candidates who have at least three years of experience teaching fulltime in an accredited Social Work program, and who enthusiastically support the College’s commitment to students’ academic and professional success. In addition, the successful candidate will have demonstrated knowledge, skills, and success in diversity and inclusion work within or transferable to higher education; these should be described in the cover letter and/or teaching statement.
