The Department of Physics and Astronomy at Uppsala University, Sweden, invites applications for a two-year postdoctoral position in particle physics theory/phenomenology starting in 2021.

The postdoc’s research project should preferably take advantage of the research profile of the particle theory/phenomenology group: hard and soft quark-gluon processes in QCD and hadron theory, theories beyond the Standard Model related to LHC data, electroweak and strong phase transitions, connections to astrophysics and cosmology.

Senior members in these projects are Gunnar Ingelman, Rikard Enberg and Stefan Leupold plus one currently under recruitment. Junior researchers/postdocs are Luca Panizzi and Eliel Camargo-Molina. Collaborations within the department exist with the large hep-th theory group as well as with the experimental groups in ATLAS and IceCube. For more information on the department and the HEP theory group, see http://www.physics.uu.se and http://www.physics.uu.se/research/high-energy-physics/research-groups/thep/

The successful candidate will be appointed for two years based on a scholarship grant from the Carl Trygger Foundation and there are also funds for travel and computer resources.

The candidate must have a doctoral degree in Physics or equivalent. Advanced theoretical physics, in particular quantum field theory, particle physics and programming skills of relevance to the subject matter are required. Experience of particle physics theory/phenomenology is required, in particular concerning QCD or physics beyond the Standard Model related to collider experiments, astroparticle physics or cosmology. Proficiency in written and spoken English is necessary.

Uppsala University aims for gender balance and diversity in all activities. We therefore welcome applicants of any gender and with different birth background, functionality and life experience.
