Tenure-Track Assistant, Associate or Full Professor Department of
Human Development, Cornell University
The College of Human Ecology is launching a faculty
cohort hire to advance scholarship and practice addressing social
justice, centering it as a critical area of expertise and strength throughout
the college. This initiative is part of a
comprehensive and collaborative college-wide effort to bring together a cohort
of scholars who are committed to studying race, ethnicity, and culture,
including the nature, persistence, and consequences of inequality.
The Department
of Human Development (http://www.human.cornell.edu/hd/)
seeks applicants for a tenure-track position at the Assistant, Associate, or Full
Professor level who broadly study the significance of race, ethnicity, and
culture. Successful applicants will
be part of a cross-college Department of Psychology. We are seeking
candidates whose research and teaching interests will strengthen and complement
the department’s existing areas (development, perception & cognition,
neuroscience, and social & personality). We encourage scholars interested in any of these areas, but we are particularly
interested in building on themes of strategic interest to the college. These
include childhood poverty, aging & health, structural
inequalities in the law, and social justice and community-based participatory
research. Responsibilities: - Teaching
three courses per year (typically two undergraduate and one graduate)
- Supervising
student research
- Maintaining
a rigorous, highly productive and externally-funded program of empirical
research that maintains and builds the department’s international reputation.
Qualifications: - Ph.D. in human development, psychology,
neuroscience, sociology or related field
- Research excellence, demonstrated by a strong record of publication in leading journals in the field
- Interest or experience in teaching at the undergraduate and graduate levels.
