Postdoctoral Researchers/Ph.D. student positions in Theoretical Physics.

The research unit “Physics of the Universe, Fields and Gravitation” of University of Mons (Belgium) invites applications for postdoctoral/Ph.D. positions in Theoretical Physics in connection with the ERC Consolidator Grant “Higher Spin Symmetry in quantum gravity, condensed matter physics and mathematics” (Principal Investigator: Evgeny Skvortsov). The appointments are initially for 3 years. Candidates should have the potential to carry out research that has high levels of originality and have expertise related to the areas of QFT, CFT (mostly the 3d ones, e.g. Chern-Simons matter theories), AdS/CFT and Higher Spin Gravity (some familiarity with the basic ideas and approaches, e.g. Chern-Simons formulation, conformal and chiral HiSGRA is encouraged, but is not necessary).

The theoretical physics group also includes two more faculty members Nicolas Boulanger and Andrea Campoleoni, as well as postdocs and Ph.D. students. The group maintains close contacts with the hep-th groups of ULB and VUB in Brussels and with KU Leuven. In general, the group interests cover a large range of subjects in quantum gravity with focus on Higher Spin Gravity, AdS/CFT, string theory, quantization of gauge systems and mathematical physics.

The position includes substantial travel allowance. Research applications will start being reviewed on February 1st, until all the positions are filled. By default the positions start in the fall of 2021, but this is negotiable due to a significant flexibility in the funds.

Applications should include CV, list of publications, summary of research accomplishments and interests, and three letters of recommendation.
