The Columbia Nano Initiative (CNI) at The Fu Foundation School of Engineering & Applied Science of Columbia University in the City of New York invites applications for an Associate Research Scientist position supporting the research program of the EFRC Pro-QM Center.
Job Description
The Associate Research Scientist will ensure leadership in field of Physics, specifically in the area of nonlinear and quantum optics of quantum materials. The primary responsibility of the position will be to perform theoretical and computational research on topics related to the Pro-QM research program and to interact with experimentalists including assistance in the interpretation of data and the design of experiments.
The successful candidate will have experience in theoretical research involving light-matter interactions, quantum materials and collective modes including at least some experience with linear and non-linear optics of quantum materials.
Associate Research Scientists at Columbia SEAS are junior officers who have demonstrated innovation and excellence in research. Candidates are evaluated on research ability and required expertise.
Performs related duties as requested.
Minimum Qualifications:
Applicants must have a Ph.D. in theoretical physics or a related field, and 2 or more years of postdoctoral research experience and a strong publication record. Knowledge of quantum many-body theory is essential. Knowledge of two dimensional materials including Moire systems desirable.
