Wilkes University invites applications for a tenure-track position in the Department of Mathematics and Computer Science at the rank of Assistant Professor in Computer Science beginning Fall 2021.

Applicants must hold the Ph.D in computer science or a closely related discipline by Spring 2022. Applicants in all areas of computer science will be considered with preference given to candidates with expertise in full stack development, machine learning, security, or networking. The person in this position will support interdisciplinary curricular and scholarship projects within the College of Science and Engineering, as well as the university as a whole.

The department seeks a well-qualified candidate with demonstrated evidence in teaching at the university level, potential for mentoring student research, and a commitment to department service. In addition, the successful candidate must have strong interests in developing curricular connections across disciplines and be able to support students with diverse backgrounds such as first-generation and international students.

Salary is commensurate with qualifications and experience.

The department is housed within the College of Science and Engineering and offers undergraduate degrees in mathematics, computer information systems, and computer science as well as providing service courses in support of many undergraduate major programs. In addition, the department also offers a master's degree in mathematics. The College of Science and Engineering has recently acquired a high-performance computer cluster supporting student-faculty research across a variety of science, engineering and mathematics disciplines.
