Candidates will be able to teach the core planning courses, GENV 3531 (The Planning Process), GENV 4201 (Canadian Environmental Planning and Management), and GENV 4521 (Seminar in Community Planning Research) and be able to pursue an active research agenda involving community climate change adaptation in a Canadian context. Applicants should have a demonstrated understanding of interdisciplinary and transdisciplinary research approaches and evidence of community engagement in research, such as community-based participatory research and participatory action research.

Job Requirements • PhD degree in a related area, such as Geography, Environmental Studies or Environmental Science; • Demonstrated excellence in developing, resourcing, and conducting social science research with an emphasis on community-based methodologies; • Demonstrated interdisciplinary skills in research and teaching with a focus on enhancing community resilience, through such lenses as climate change science and policy, environmental or community planning, or sustainability studies; • A willingness to involve undergraduate students in their research program, and a demonstrated record of teaching that demonstrates a passion for experiential learning, interactive methodologies, application of theory and concepts to current real-world issues, and high student engagement. Ideal candidates will also have an aptitude for, and experience with, knowledge mobilization and interaction with community networks.
